About Lisa Phillips
I am passionate about people and finding solutions to interpersonal problems and relationships. After many years as a manager for the Walt Disney Company and later as an airfreight sales executive, I decided to use my public relations and management skills to focus more on people’s personal needs. While raising my children, I worked on a church staff as a Children’s Ministry Program Director, women’s ministry counselor, and public speaker on various issues relating to counseling and family life.
Walking through the personal struggles with so many men, women, children, and families throughout the years led me to pursue my MA degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary, where I graduated with honors. My practice is not limited to Christian clients, but I believe in addressing spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical aspects related to who you are as a person, with acceptance and compassion. I have found that it is impossible to truly understand a person and their situation or life struggle without understanding all aspects of who they are.
My main interest is helping clients with their deepest issues, which is the key to real transformation and freedom from confusion, abuse, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and depression. I work with couples, individuals, families, teens, and blended families who want to transform their current relationships, or are healing from broken relationships, trauma, abuse, and concussion.
I co-facilitate Gottman Marriage Retreats for active-duty military with my husband Chris, who is a Clinical Psychologist. We also co-teach classes on healthy identity, trauma, ADHD, post-concussive neurobiology, and social skills for adults on the Autism Spectrum. In addition, I served for three years as a regular speaker at Divorce Workshop Denver, helping people navigate and heal through the painful process of divorce.
I have advanced trainings and certifications in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, The Gottman Method for Couples Levels 1 and 2, and am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for clients dealing with PTSD, trauma, abuse, chronic pain, and past or current unsettling life disturbances.
In my spare time, I enjoy discovering different parts of Europe, enjoying cool outdoor cafes, and discovering rare European antiques with my husband Chris, our son Josh, and family and friends from near and far. I particularly love heading home to see our other four grown children in Colorado, and spending time with friends and family there. We never get tired of the Colorado Rockies, where we love to ski, camp, and hike usually with our yellow lab Maddie.
So, if you have gotten all the way to the bottom of this, you are an individual who is ready to experience change and transformation in an atmosphere of empathy, trust, and respect, or you are a couple who wants to experience deep intimacy and healing for your relationship, please contact me. Please know that true change is more than possible -it is probable, as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort. I feel honored to have experienced huge changes first-hand with so many clients! I would be honored to do this with you as well!
