WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
At Truth Counseling, you can expect to be welcomed, comfortable, and safe. Our offices are cozy and warm, with a fresh cup of coffee waiting for you. I realize that deciding to come to counseling and sharing your personal story is difficult, and I strive to make sure you feel cared for during the counseling process. I also know that you came to counseling to experience some real change in your life or in your relationship, so it is my aim to make sure you achieve your personal counseling goals. I will work with you to achieve the transformation you desire.
HOW LONG WILL COUNSELING LAST AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME?
You are in control of how long your counseling lasts depending on your individual goals. Sometimes change takes a few sessions, and sometimes it takes much longer, depending on our needs. This can be discussed in the first session, so you know what to expect. I find that the most successful clients come to counseling once per week, which gives them time to implement new ways of being without waiting too long between sessions.
WILL EVERYTHING I SHARE BE CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes. Whatever you share with a counselor is protected by law, with some exceptions of legal statutes (child abuse, harm to self and others). Personal information is not released unless it is released with your consent.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
I currently hold office hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the Highlands Ranch office and Thursdays in the Colorado Springs office. Evening appointments are offered for your convenience on Mondays and Fridays. I also offer teleconference services over a secure link that is HIPPA compliant for your confidentiality. So, if you are traveling or can’t make it in for any reason, we can still have a virtual session.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Life can get hectic and plans change, so if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please contact me via telephone or e-mail at least 24 hours in advance. For cancellations less than 24 hours in advance, I charge a late cancellation fee.
WHO DO YOU PRIMARILY WORK WITH?
I primarily work with couples and families looking to heal and enhance the intimacy in their relationships. I also work individually with men and women who are healing from grief, divorce, abandonment, loss, and emotionally abusive relationships. I am a certified trauma therapist, which is useful since many people have some major life disturbance that is acting as a roadblock to personal joy and fulfilling relationships.
HOW MUCH DOES COUNSELING COST?
Counseling costs $115 per counseling hour (50 minutes). Intake/initial sessions are usually an hour and ten minutes at $172.50. Couples intensives can also be scheduled for extended times and are billed at the per session rate.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
I do not file insurance, but you are encouraged to call your insurance company and ask what they cover for out of network providers. A statement will be provided to you upon request to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It may be important for you to consider that going through insurance requires your information and a diagnosis to be submitted to a third party, who may regulate the treatment and number of sessions. Insurance companies rarely cover expenses for marriage and family counseling.
WHAT IF I STILL DON’T KNOW IF I NEED COUNSELING?
If you are unsure or have questions that are not answered above, please feel free to call me for a free phone consultation. I can answer any questions you have and we can decide together if counseling with Truth Counseling is a good fit for you. Choosing a counselor that is a good personal fit is very important, and if I feel like I am not a good fit for you or your needs, I will gladly refer you to someone that I think would be able to help. If you are contemplating counseling, then you most certainly have a need, so the most important thing is for you to take that first step and call.
